Deepa Jayakumar’s political journey is experiencing a few hiccups now. The RK Nagar bypoll is now the centre of all attention as this was the constituency from which former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa used to contest. Clinching this post, will probably reflect which party the public trusts now after Amma.

Three parties are in contention, one is the AIADMK, another is MGR Amma Deepa Peravai and the third is O Panneerselvam’s faction.

Deepa Jayakumar, however, is facing a triple political strike. On one hand, she had to quash rumours of her party being merged into O Panneerselvam’s faction, secondly, her husband Madhavan has floated his own party and that Deepa Peravai is going to be dissolved.

Quashing all these rumours, Deepa made it known to the press that she was confident about contesting in the polls and that her win would prove that she is the rightful successor to Amma. She also accused Sasikala of alienating her entire family. Deepa said Saiskala first sent her father away from Veda Nilayam, the Poes Garden Home, then tried to separate Deepak and her and now her husband is being ‘misguided’ by TTV Dinakaran to prevent Deepa from taking part in the elections.
