O Panneerselvam tells reported that he has come to New Delhi to show his unanimity with the Centre in nominating the President. Disagreeing to rumors that actor Rajinikanth is entering politics, he said that things will automatically fall in place once he joins. He also said that a petition has been submitted to the Election Commission to conduct a fair election of the General Secretary.
In Delhi, Former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam met the reporters and said, “We have come to Delhi to manifest our support for the BJP’s presidential candidate, as he is filing nomination today. We didn’t get the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister. Media has been projecting that we would join hands with other political parties but we don’t have such intention as of now.”

‘Two Leaves’ symbol controversy:
“Only the General Secretary has been given the authority to decide on party’s symbol. One cannot simply elect the General Secretary based on appointment system. We should adhere to the party’s rules and regulations in choosing the General Secretary. Appointing someone as General Secretary doesn’t go by the laws of the party. According to the laws of AIADMK, if the position of the General Secretary is yet to be filled, the party’s speaker, treasurer, and the chief secretary should carry out its work. Until then, no one is entitled to claim the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol.”
About the TN government:
“A government should work for the welfare of the people but this present government seems to be lethargic in implementing developmental plans that are needed immediately,” said Panneerselvam.
Rumor:
“BJP has never tried to associate us with Rajinikanth as rumored. Is Rajinikanth taking a survey on joining politics? I don’t know anything about it. Anyone can join politics but let him announce his decision and then we will see to that”.
3 Team illusion:
“It is just an illusion that divides AIADMK into three teams. The real truth is, all of the AIADMK members have joined along with me. We have filed a petition with the Election Commission, requesting it to conduct an election for the General Secretary post in a righteous way. It is said that E.Palaniswami, Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran have signed a petition together. How could the petition carry all of their signs, if there is an obvious dispute seen among them? I suspect malpractices on the same”.
Attack on the reporters:
“It is saddening to know that the Tamil reporters were attacked in Delhi. Media is the fourth pillar of democracy. I always make sure that they are treated with utmost respect”.
“CM could avail security benefits but then it should not be little others” Panneerselvam further added.
