Dhinakaran to make major announcement on August 23 his faction to meet governor against OPS EPS

The turbulence in the AIADMK camp after the merger is far from over. Former deputy general secretary of the party and Sasikala’s nephew, TTV Dhinakaran's faction, is all set to meet Tamil Nadu’s governor against the merger on August 22.

In a show of strength, ministers that support Dhinakaran’s claims went to Jayalalithaa's memorial at Marina Beach in Chennai where both O Panneerselvam and Chief Minister E Palaniswami were present.

Dhinakaran, who was ousted by the party, tweeted on August 21 that he will meet the media persons on August 23 since his doctor has advised him to take rest due to fever and sore throat.

Sources tell Asianet Newsable that August 23 is significant as the AIADMK will form a general council to decide the fate of Sasikala within the party.

Dhinakaran’s faction will meet Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao at 10 am on Tuesday, August 23, to inform him of their lack of confidence in the EPS-OPS Government. The MLAs met for a marathon discussion with Dhinakaran at his Adyar residence.

They claim that none in the AIADMK has the power to remove or sack the General Secretary according to the party by-laws.

"According to the law, they do not have the right to do this. Everything happening in party headquarter is a forgery," said rebel AIADMK leader P Vetrivel.

Andipatti MLA Thanga Tamilselvan said it was O Panneerselvam, Edappadi K Palaniswami and ministers like D Jayakumar who moved a resolution to appoint VK Sasikala as interim general secretary and later nominating her as the AIADMK legislature party leader. And now they have removed her according to their convenience.

"If we had sided with OPS (Panneerselvam), this government would not have survived. What is our situation now, who is responsible for our safety? We stayed together to ensure Amma (Jayalalithaa) government continued," he said.

Dhinakaran had further tweeted that this wasn’t a merger but only a commercial agreement by the factions to preserve their posts in the government. He also said that the party members were being dishonest by removing the accepted general secretary and only god knows how long the alleged merger will last.
