FollowSukesh Chandrasekar is turning out to be a master of scams and his reach in the political world is surprising. As part of the investigation, the Delhi police's crime branch has seized a fake Rajya Sabha member ID card from the alleged middleman in the Election Commission bribery case involving AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dinakaran.
Sukesh was arrested on 16 April for allegedly taking money from Dinakaran to bribe Election Commission officials to get the AIADMK's two leaves symbol for the Sasikala faction.
The police seized a fake identity card with security features from Chandrashekar. The investigators have started a probe to ascertain who gave him the ID card, a senior police officer said. The police have added Section 467 (forgery of valuable security) of the Indian Penal Code to an FIR registered in the case, he said.
The offence carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and with the section being added to the FIR, the investigators will get 90 days to file a chargesheet in the case, he added.
AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dinakaran has confessed to meeting Sukesh Chandrasekar, the arrested middleman in the EC bribery case, assuming he was a high court judge. Dinakaran, who is accused of trying to bribe an Election Commission official in a bid to retain the 'two leaves' symbol of AIADMK, however, maintained that he did not pay any money to Sukesh in this regard.
Twenty-seven-year-old Sukesh is no novice to the crime world. His tryst with crime began at the age of 17 in Bengaluru. Aiming to lead a lavish lifestyle, he duped people of several crores in Bengaluru and Chennai. And his cons continued, getting bigger and bigger and now he is cooling his heels in jail after he got involved with TTV.
The surprising part is how deep Sukesh’s connections in the government go, that a small-time conman was able to dupe so many government officials and obtain a high security id like that of the Rajya Sabha. Fake or genuine it can be used to create a lot of mischief if it ends up in the hands of terrorists.
