Chennai: Railway reservations for Diwali to start from June 18 to avoid last-minute rush

The Southern Railway has announced that reservations for Diwali will begin from 18th of June.

One can reserve tickets in both Egmore and Central Railway stations due to huge demand for tickets, especially from migrant communities in the city.

Similarly, information on special and additional trains will be announced soon.

Southern railways see huge demands for tickets every year during the festive occasion. In previous years, tickets for special trains have been sold out in minutes and waiting list has touched 200. 

The reservation period has been extended for 120 days to avoid any last minute rush. People who have migrated to Chennai and its surroundings for work choose to go to their respective hometowns for Diwali celebration.
