AIIMS in TN State report lacks details complains central government

Centre has proposed to set up AIIMS in five cities in Tamil Nadu. As part of the process of bringing AIIMS to Tamil Nadu, the Central government has asked for details of schools and colleges in those cities.

When the Central Government declared that Tamil Nadu will get AIIMS, the TN Government suggested cities such as Thoppur, Madurai District, Sengipatti, Tanjore District, Pudukkottai, Erode District, Perundurai, Kanchipuram District and Chengalpattu.

The list said that the AIIMS Hospital would be set up in Sengipatti, Tanjore.  There was a protest in Madurai demanding for AIIMS to be set up in their city as well.

Their demands were discussed in the Assembly.

Meanwhile the Central Government has asked for additional information saying that the report submitted by the TN government lacks details.

So the Department of Health and Family Welfare of Tamil Nadu has ordered the collectors of the five cities to prepare a detailed report on the same.

Recently, the Center had rejected Tanjore as a potential city for an AIIMS hospital.
