With just 14 days to get before the Tokyo Olympics gets started, there is hardly much time for the Indian athletes to prepare. Meanwhile, of the 26 athletes taking part in athletics, it seems like some are yet to pass the fitness test.

On the same note, the Athletics Federation of India has request three athletes to pass the fitness test before flying out. The ones happen to be Bhawna Jat (racewalker) and KT Irfan (racewalker), along with M Sreeshankar (long jumper).

"We cannot take unfit athletes to the Olympics. We have to check when the athletes qualify for the Olympics, are they injury-free or fit for competition. This is just a test of fitness and we are not looking at some qualification (mark)," Adille Sumariwalla (AFI president) was quoted as saying to PTI.

While all the three are currently undergoing training procedures at the Sports Authority of India in Bengaluru, Bhawna underwent her test on Friday. "I had my fitness test today and I did well. I am satisfied with my performance," she said.

As for Sreeshankar, his father said, "Sreeshankar has no problem. My son has been asked for a fitness test on July 21 at SAI Bengaluru. It is all right. He will do well and prove his fitness."
