Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi is one such footballer who barely needs any introduction. He is truly a modern-day legend of the sport, having won six Ballon d'Or titles, besides holding incalculable records to his name at Barcelona.

Recent feat
Recently, Messi scripted another feat to his name. It was against Real Sociedad last week that Messi became played the most number of Barcelona games, going past the previous record of Xavi's 767.

The honour
Meanwhile, on his 769th appearance for Barca against Real Valladolid at Camp Nou, Messi was honoured by the Catalan. He was provided with a club t-shirt, signed by all of his teammates.

Notably, the shirt happened to be the jersey Messi donned for the first time during his debut season at Camp Nou in 2003-04. As the team hurdled and posed with Messi, it was followed by his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and his three children (Thiago, Mateo and Ciro), who clicked a picture with the same.

Match result
Barca did not disappoint Messi and fans on the auspicious occasion, as it went on to beat Valladolid 1-0, thanks to Ousmane Dembele's 90th-minute strike. Meanwhile, the Catalan is placed second in the La Liga table, a point behind Atletico Madrid.

Future
However, reports and rumours continue to pour in that Messi could leave Camp Nou at the end of the season. While Barcelona is making sure that it holds on to Messi for as long as possible, two of the top clubs, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, have reportedly begun preparations to bring in the Argentine legend.
