IPL 2018, KXIPvsRCB: Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel guide Bangalore to a 10-wicket win

Royal Challengers Bangalore have done this in a canter. All of sudden they look like true contenders to make the playoffs and Kings XI Punjab are running out of steam in the end. Bangalore were clinical in the match and even that is an understatement. They have won by 10 wickets with almost 12 full overs to spare. That will do their net run rate a world of good. The table is wide open now.

IPL 2018, KXIPvsRCB: Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel guide Bangalore to a 10-wicket win

Royal Challengers Bangalore secure a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab. 1st team to register a 10-wicket win in this IPL.

The batsmen didn't have to break too much sweat. Captain Virat Kohli scored 48 runs from 28 deliveries, while fellow opener Parthiv Patel scored 40 runs from 22 deliveries. Bangalore did not lose any wicket, scoring 92 in just 8.1 overs. Bangalore will hope to somehow make it into the play-offs.

A total mismatch in the end. It was touted to be a thrilling game, a run fest, but in the end, a damp squib. RCB have given KXIP a severe thrashing in this low-scoring affair. The game virtually ended at the halfway mark when KXIP got shot out for 88. Once that happened, it was only a matter of how quickly RCB could finish this, with an eye on the net run rate. Kohli sensed that, promoted himself to open the innings and along with Parthiv, ensured that they made quick work of the paltry target.

After Bangalore chose to field first, Punjab batsmen fell like a house of cards, as they were bowled out for just 88. KL Rahul scored 21 runs from 15 balls, while Chris Gayle scored 18 runs from 14 balls. Karun Nair scored just 1. Aaron Finch scored 26 from 23 balls. Stoinis and Mayank Agarwal scored 2 runs each. Umesh Yadav took 3 wickets for Bangalore.
KXIP 88 (15.1 Ovs)
RCB 92/0 (8.1 Ovs)
