IPL 2018: KXIP vs DD: Is Delhi the most dangerous team this season?

IPL 2018, Match 2: Delhi Daredevils (DD) Predicted 11 to face Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
IPL 2018: KXIP vs DD: Is Delhi the most dangerous team this season?

One of strongest contenders for IPL trophy this year. As said by former Australian cricketer Dean Jones: “most scary team of IPL 2018”.

Delhi Daredevils will play under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, who had come back to the team after 7 years. Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the IPL due to a back injury, which is a massive loss for DD. Glenn Maxwell will be missing this match as he has been appointed as Master of Ceremonies for teammate Aaron Finch’s marriage. Two left handers, Colin Munro and Gautam Gambhir, may open for the Delhi Daredevils. Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Dan Christian and Chris Morris are the probable ones at middle order. And Abhishek Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami and Trent Boult look like a strong bowling unit.

First things first: they've got Cricket legend Ricky Ponting as their head coach, who also happens to be responsible for assembling this squad. He has already proved himself as a coach with his stint with Mumbai Indians where he helped MI to lift IPL trophy. And if you're aware of what's going inside DD, you'll find recently they've appointed a separate bowling and fielding coach which DD never had earlier. And Ponting had great inputs on the appointment of these two coaches as acknowledged by DD CEO Hemant Dua. So he's changing the culture inside franchise also. He knows the art of how to get most out of any player, so I'm optimistic that he'll do wonders with this squad of DD also.

Now, if we look at the captain of DD again, they've got one of most successful and experienced captain in the history of IPL as the team head is none other than Gautam Gambhir. DD need to pray to god that as IPL starts, he must be in good form.

They went into auction this year with a pretty clear mindset, unlike previous years when they used to go after one player so aggressively that they end up buying that player at such a huge price that even players were not able to justify their price tag. But this year they didn't bid for huge names, and if they did, they quit after a limit. But they managed to get quality players at such a low price. They’ve covered every aspect, which needs to be included to be a successful team. You can read DD's entire squad, their strength and weaknesses, here also. Hope DD do wonders this year.

Probable XI for DD: Gautam Gambhir (c), Colin Munro, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Dan Christian, Chris Morris, Abhishek Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult.
