The English Premier League, 2021-22, saw Matchday 3 getting underway from Saturday. There were a couple of blockbuster matches as we present the review of the same.

Manchester City hammers five past Arsenal
In the big opening contest, defending champion Manchester City was up against Arsenal at home. While the champ was the favourite going ahead, it turned out to be utter one-sided destruction, with the host hammering five past the visitor, thanks to goals from Ilkay GĂ¼ndogan (7), Ferran Torres (12 and 84), Gabriel Jesus (43) and Rodri (53).

Furthermore, Arsenal's Granit Xhaka was handed a red card in the 35th minute, making things easier for City. As a result of this win, City has climbed to the fifth spot, while Arsenal has hit rock bottom, piling pressure on Mikel Arteta.

Leicester City edges past Norwich City
Leicester was up against Norwich away from home. Although the visitor was undoubtedly the favourite, the host displayed tremendous resilience, making Brendan Rogers and co toil for the win.

While Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for the Foxes in the eighth, Teemu Pukki levelled it with a penalty. Nevertheless, Marc Albrighton scored the winner in the 76th to see Leicester off, as it has risen to the eighth spot.

Chelsea survives relentless Liverpool
In the second blockbuster clash of the day, Liverpool hosted the European champion, Chelsea. It was expected to be a close encounter, and no one was the clear favourite here. Kai Havertz put The Blues ahead in the 22nd minute. However, a red card to Reece James at the stroke of half-time derailed its momentum.

Courtesy of the resulting penalty, Mohamed Salah drew level to keep the deadlock at half-time. In the second half, Chelsea showed remarkable resilience and composure with its defence, not allowing The Reds to penetrate and eventually keep it levelled and settle for a draw.
