BCCI official Kohli has to deliver otherwise he had it

Virat Kohli had the final say in the captain-coach row between him and Anil Kumble. Kumble resigned on June 20, 2017, after talks between the two broke down. However, now the pressure is on Kohli to deliver, or he will be taken to task, according to a top BCCI official.

According to a report by the Times of India, the official said, “It has been given to understand that Kohli eventually had the veto power on the coach issue which pushed Kumble out of the team. Now that he has his way, he has to deliver as captain. Otherwise, he has had it.”

It is reported that Anil Kumble’s advice to the team after losing the match did not go down well with the team. Interestingly, not many in the squad were curious to know about Kumble's whereabouts when they left London early on Tuesday.

Anil Kumble had three meetings in London post the Champions Trophy final, one of which was with the Cricket Advisory Committee. In the meeting, he said that he had no issues with Virat Kohli.

However, during the final meeting between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli, Kumble realised that the damage was beyond repair and hence tendered his resignation on June 20, 2017.

"It's clear that whosoever is close to Kohli will survive the heat, and that includes assistant coach Sanjay Bangar," the official added.

And so it seems you fall out of the team if you fall out of Kohli’s favour. But he will have to now live up to the expectations of the BCCI, or he too could be shown the door.
