Anil Kumble Resignation Is it time for Ravi Shastris return as Indias coach

Now that Anil Kumble has resigned, the position for the head coach of India is wide open. The BCCI has in its hands potential candidates like Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput and Dodda Ganesh. However, it looks like the coast is clear for Kohli-favorite Ravi Shastri to make a comeback as coach.

The Cricket Advisory Committee while looking for Kumble’s replacement will allow the interview of candidates from the outside who they deem fit for the position. For that to happen, all the CAC will need to do is submit a special request. But all this can happen only if the CAC wants.

While talking to the Times of India, a BCCI official said, “This move could also be seen to prop up the candidature of former Indian team director Ravi Shastri as a possible replacement. But there is more to than meets the eye."

Rajiv Shukla, the IPL Chairman and a senior member of BCCI, said that the board would announce a coach before the Sri Lankan series next month.

It is being reported that the CAC is not happy with the current applicants for the post, including Virender Sehwag. Many are of the opinion that Sehwag does not have the coaching experience or the techniques to guide India.

Ravi Shastri, who has support from Kohli, has a better chance of becoming the coach if he applies for the position.
