Anil Kumble resignation Give Kohli a chance to say his side of the story say fans

One of the reasons Anil Kumble mentioned in his letter that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed him of Virat Kohli’s reservations about his style. A rift between Kumble and Kohli was reported after the India-Australia series earlier in 2017. Kohli and other Indian players were not happy with Kumble’s tough taskmaster approach. Recently in the Champions Trophy, Kumble kept his interaction with the team limited to only giving advice to bowlers. He and Kohli avoided each other.

Kumble resigned on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, two days after India’s defeat in the Champions Trophy.

While several people have expressed disappointment in the unceremonious exit of Anil Kumble, Kohli’s fans have taken to social media in support of the Indian skipper. They claim that Virat Kohli is wrongly targeted and that Kohli must be given a chance to tell his side of the story as well.

And with one person even saying,

In a statement about the resignation, Amitabh Choudhary, Acting Secretary of the BCCI, said “We wish to place on record our sincere appreciation for the immense contribution by Anil Kumble to the team which enabled India to attain the No1 Test position. Indian cricket needs his continued contribution in various capacities and wishes him all the best in his future endeavour.”

He said that the BCCI will continue to look for a new head coach for the Senior India Men's Cricket Team with the help of the Cricket Advisory Committee.

The BCCI has deputed Dr. MV Sridhar, GM - Cricket Operations to supervise the Team Management for the West Indies tour.
