Youth held for Facebook post against Mohanlal

Kerala police arrested a man for publishing defaming post on Facebook against actor Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor.

The arrested is Naseef Ashraf, 23, a native of Kunnamkulam in Thrissur. The police took action based on a complaint filed by Antony Perumbavoor.

Ashraf had posted a selfie video targeting Mohanlal and Antony Perumbavoor. In the video, he accused the actor and producer of running brothels in Perumbavoor.

"I came to know about this three years ago. I had visited a friend of mine and found that Mohanlal and Antony are running a racket and are earning lakhs. They are mainly targeting migrant labourers," Ashraf said in the video.

Perumbavoor, who is also an aide of the actor, filed the complaint after Ashraf' video spread through social media including Whatsapp.

Police arrested the youth from his house. "On questioning, he was making senseless statements. He even said that he is the only person alive with an IQ at par with Issac Newton," police said.

Soon after the arrest, Ashraf's mother approached police stating that his son has an unstable mind. She also produced records of treatments. Though a defamation case was filed against the youth, he was awarded bail and was sent to a mental asylum in Thodupuzha.

In the video, the youth had also mentioned the name of Prithviraj, but police said that they did not receive any complaint from the actor.
