Worth 17 crore, but Sadananda Gowda uses ₹3500 phone

Take the Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Sadananda Gowda, who has declared assets worth ₹17.1 core, but also says he uses a basic mobile phone worth ₹3,500!

The list of interesting things minister Sadananada Gowda has declared also include a TV which he bought in 1993 for ₹8,000 and a 1994-model fridge costing ₹5,000.

Though he owns such a basic mobile set, he is quite active on the social media. Every other day followers receive tweets or a post from Sadananda Gowda.

Clearly, some Personal Assistants are keeping the minister on his social media toes.

It is not like minister lacks expensive material goods. Another nugget in the declarations was that he owned a Land Rover car worth ₹64 lakh, which he used for travelling.

Perhaps the minister is emotionally attached to the old TV and fridge.

Sadananda Gowda also has a revolver and a pistol, which he brought at a cost of ₹62,500.

Again, strangely, the cost of these pistols seems to be much more than the amount he has invested in shares - nearly ten times more.

Whatever his expenses, he certainly had a hefty loan. He owes nearly two crore to a clutch of banks.
