Woman techie commits suicide, leaps off office building in Bengaluru

A 30-year-old IT profession committed suicide by jumping off from her office building in Whitefield, Bengaluru. A resident of Rajajinagar, Shobha Lakshminarayan, was a senior software engineer at an MNC located in International Tech Park Bangalore. 


According to police, Shobha reported at her workplace at the usual time. After logging in on her work station, she headed to the cafeteria and suddenly jumped from a window. He was rushed to a hospital by her colleagues where she was declared death on arrival. 


The initial police investigation has failed to ascertain the cause of her death, but a case has been registered. According to police, the CCTV footage confirms that Shobha committed suicide. However, she did not leave any suicide note.


As per the Times of India report, Shobha lost her father at the age of four and lived with her mother. The national daily also quoted her family sources as saying that she was fighting a legal battle over ancestral property against her cousin that pushed her into depression. 


Techies committing suicide has become a matter of growing concern in the IT capital city of India. According to 2014 data from National Crime Report Bureau (NCRB), Bengaluru is second in the list of cities with the highest number of suicide deaths in India.
