Wildlife photographer arrested for selling tiger, black panther skin

  • The police suspect it to be an interstate gang.
  • The gang was intercepted while they were returning to Bengaluru from Mysuru.

Ashwin Ramaswamy - Bengaluru techie and a wildlife photographer -  three more persons have been arrested by the City Crime Branch at the Shankarpuram Police Station for selling stuffed tigers and black panther. 


The City Crime Branch team led by DCP Kushelandra Kumar arrested the accused persons on Monday early morning when they were returning from Mysuru to Bengaluru.


"The tiger and black panther skin is made like a trophy for show purpose and it is suspected that these criminals were trying to sell it. The price of these seized items is said to be worth Rs 2 crores," said a senior officer from CCB.

 

The officer further mentioned that it is said to note that even techies and wildlife photographers are indulging is such crimes involving trade of wildlife and its products.

 

Additional Commissioner of Police S Ravi, said, "We have taken the accused persons under our custody and will probe further to establish the links in interstate wildlife." 

 

Along with Ashwin, KV Arun Kumar, 52 years old, Jagadish, 41 years, Rajeshwar 46 have been arrested. The police also seized one Tata 407 vehicle and Maruthi 800 car from the accused.
