The doctors say apart from the stressing work schedule, increase in smoking habit is also one of the main reasons for hair loss.

 

The doctors at Vydehi Medical College and Research Institute who have conducted a study in 2014-2015 found that out of 10 patients who come with hair loss complain, nearly five are said to be the victims of environment like, poor quality of life that includes work stress, cigarettes smoking, poor diet like junk food and loss of sleep.

 

"The trend is increasing, initially the hospital used to get one or two severe hair fall cases. By and large genetic factor would have been the primary reason. But now, the change of lifestyle in women is major contributor to hair loss," said Dr J Yadav, Associate Professor, Vydehi Medical College and Research Institute.

 

Dr Sumathy, Senior Professor, MS Ramaiah Hospital says, in some cases, the polycystic ovary syndrome a genetic disease in women can also lead to hair loss and these days, combination of both genetic and lifestyle factors are coming to hospital with baldness issues.

 

The doctors say, young patients including college-goers and from IT sectors are on the rise.
