What’s wrong in watching girls dance in a live band? asks HC

Three software engineers had filed a plea requesting the quashing of a case involving the throwing of currency notes on a woman dancing at a bar during a live band performance.

The advocate fighting the case of the accused engineers said, “My clients were not disturbing anyone and were watching the dance. It could have been objected if the incident occurred at a public place. But a private hotel had organised the dance programme inside the hotel. So watching dance programme inside a hotel is not illegal.”

Further he said, “The case has not been booked against the bar owner who organised the show, but against those who watched it. So the case should be quashed,” he argued.

After hearing the arguments, the big question the judge, Justice Ananda Byrareddy, had was - "What is wrong if a person watches a live dance without disturbing anyone?"

The prosecutor had no formal reply to the query.

The court asked the public prosecutor to provide more information regarding the arrest of the three accused and postponed the hearing.
