VS decries regularisation of illegal constructions

After keeping it low for quite some time, Communist veteran and Kerala State Administrative Reforms Commission (KARC) Chairman VS Achuthanandan has come out in public against the Left government led by Pinarayi Vijayan, his party colleague. He warned the government against the move to regularise all the illegal constructions below 15,000 sq.ft.

The Communist veteran is apparently aiming the Local Self Government Department which is moving ahead with the regularisation of illegal constructions.

"I have always stood up against illegal constructions. Regularising unauthorised buildings by accepting a fine would encourage the violators. I had vehemently opposed to such a move during the regime of UDF government," Achuthanandan stated.

Achuthanandan had exposed numerous illegal constructions across the state in the past. And many of them are under Vigilance investigation now.

The former chief minister, who is a staunch opponent of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the Communist Party of India-Marxist, was silent for long since he was appointed as the Chairman of the KARC.
