After Oommen Chandy and K Babu, it is now the turn of the former Minister KC Joseph to face quick verification by the Vigilance.

Vigilance Court at Thalassery on Friday ordered the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to make quick verification against Joseph, who was the Rural Development Minister in the Oommen Chandy cabinet. The order follows a complaint that alleged the senior Congress leader amassed disproportionate assets during his tenure in the ministry. The court ordered the VACB to submit its report by 16 July.

Joseph is the third minister of the former United Democratic Front ministry to come under the scanner of the vigilance. Last month, Thalassery Vigilance Court had ordered a quick verification against Oommen Chandy and his cabinet colleague K Babu in a complaint about alleged corruption in clearing the trees from the site of the upcoming airport at Kannur.
Responding to the court order, Joseph said that he is ready to quit politics if the charges proved true. He also stated that he will cooperate with the vigilance verification.
