Mallappa Hegde was quite inebriated when he attended the Eshwara Jatre festival parade at Saravada, Vijayapura district yesterday. He was in not a condition to stand and the locals had warned him to stay away from the race track.

The drunk Hegde refused to listen to reason and continued to stand the track. When the racing carts reached the point where he was standing, he tried to run away but stumbled and fell on the track instead.
More than five carts ran over him (three on his head and 2 on his legs)
Fortunately for Hegde, the bulls were merciful towards hum and not a single bull stepped on his body, only the wheels of the carts ran over him. Had the bulls stepped on him, it would have been very difficult for Hegde to survive.
Hegde survived the accident but was rushed to a district hospital as he had sustained major injuries to his head. Doctors confirmed that he is out of danger.
