Verbal clash over football match takes life of youth

A verbal clash over a football match resulted in the death of a 19-year-old in Kasargod. 
 

The incident took place on Thursday evening when Abdul Khader A K, a native of Povval, along with his friends came to play football at a ground in Mooladakkam. Another team from Bovikkanam came to the ground, and the groups got engaged in verbal clash. The group stabbed Khader who suffered serious injuries. Two of his friends Abdul Sathar and Siyad Povval also suffered injuries. Khader succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Chenkala. 
 

Police said tension was prevailing in the area for past few days after elders interfered in the game of youngsters from Povval and allegedly beat up some of them. 
 

Police have registered a case and are searching for the group from Bovikkanam. One of the team members is identified as Naseer. 
 

Indian Union Muslim League alleged that Communist Party of India - Marxist (CPM) was behind the murder and called for a dawn to dusk hartal. 
 

Khader was supposed to go to Gulf on Friday.
