The Karnataka government will have a meeting and try to take a unanimous decision on releasing three TMC water to Tamil Nadu. This decision has been taken following the Supreme Court taking the government to task for not releasing water. The Court asked Karnataka to submit its reasons for flouting the SC verdict by Tuesday afternoon.

Siddaramaiah has put forth the argument that earlier Karnataka had only 27 TMC water, but now the dam has 30 TMC water due to rains. So, Karnataka feels it can release three TMC of additional water.

This decision of the government has drawn flak from Opposition parties, especially the BJP. BJP leaders have demanded the government stick to the decision taken in the Assembly - to use the water for state’s drinking purpose only and not for agriculture in the state or in Tamil Nadu.
