Two more nuns surrender in Kottiyoor rape case

  • The priest sexually exploited and impregnated a 16-year-old girl

Two more nuns surrender in Kottiyoor rape case

Two nuns, who was named co-accused in Kottiyoor rape case surrendered before the police. The nuns were charged for covering up the incident. 
 

Sister Liz, Maria from Christudasi Convent in Wayanad and Sister Oneida of Christudasi Convent at Kallumutti in Iritty, Kannur, were named sixth and seventh accused. The nuns surrendered before Peravoor Circle Inspector on March 30.

With the latest development, a total of ten persons have been arrested in the case.

The prime accused, Father  Robin Vadakkumcherry, who was the vicar of a church in Kottiyoor, was arrested on February 28. He was accused of sexually exploiting and impregnating a 16-year-old girl. 
 

The minor gave birth to a girl child at a private hospital in February 7. The priest then tried to implicate the father of the girl in the case and the girl at first said that her own father committed the crime. However, on further questioning parents revealed the name of the priest.

All the seven accused, except Father Vadakkumcherry, have been granted bail in the case.
