Do not interfere with gold owned by people in India since it is a 'matter of sentiment'.


This is the advice Jayalalithaa wrote for PM Narendra Modi in a short note addressed to Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao as per a report in the First post. This particular piece of advice was supposed to be handed over to the representatives of PM Modi in Tamil Nadu.


The report says that the note was written two days before the fatal cardiac arrest on December 2 which proves that she was aware of what was happening including the demonetisation.

The report sighting reliable sources claimed that this short note was shown to Tamil Nadu in-charge Governor Vidyasagar Rao later on with the intention that it will reach the representatives of the PM in the state. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetisation on November 8 at the time when Amma was in Apollo Hospital in Chennai. This massive move created chaos and uncertainty in the country which still exists.

Soon after on November 29, Lok Sabha cleared the Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Bill amidst opposition's protest and without debate that has clauses regarding the amount of gold one can possess legally. In a move that has been seen as against black money hoarding by converting into gold, this amendment drew the attention of the opposition as well as the nation.

On December 2, Jayalalithaa while watching the news on television scribbled this note that shows her deep understanding of Indian sentiments and makes her the only Puratchi Thalaivi.
