Instant karma: Thief tries to loot temple, falls into well instead

Thief falls into well while burglary attempt

Rajendran is so familiar with every nook and corner of Kunnamkulam that the place is reportedly known to him like the back of his hand. So there seems to be no way for him to forget about the well that almost turned a death trap for him.

But blame it on fate or just another bad day, the petty thief literally landed in a police 'net' after his robbery plans backfired and he fell into the well instead.

Known as 'Manichitrathazhu Rajendran,' the burglar is an expert in unlocking the intricate and the magnificent traditional Kerala locks, known as Manichithrathazhu. Last Thursday, he planned to loot  a temple at Kunnamkulam in Thrissur.

As Rajendran tiptoed in the pitch dark, he accidently slipped into a well that had no protection walls. He cried out for help and luckily, some local people came to his rescue, followed by Fire and Rescue personnel.

When grilled, the thief confessed to the police that he had come to raid the temple. Interestingly, Rajendran, who was in jail in connection with another theft case, was released from jail just four days before he again landed in the police 'net.'
