The passionate farmer ploughed the agricultural land continuously, without sleep for 168 hours. He want to accomplish 700 hours of ploughing in future. 

The youth has ploughed 84 acres of agriculture land continuously for 168 hours without sleep.

Basavaraja Naykodi (22), a farmer of Honnatiki village of Vijayapura Taluk, has ploughed his agriculture land continuously day in and day out for seven days.

He started the ploughing on Friday, January 27, 2017 and has stopped on Thursday, February 2.

He used two tractors for his endeavour. When the engine of one tractor stopped due to heat he used to take up the other tractor. Thus using both tractors alternatively he accomplished his target.

He consumed food, water, tea coffee etc. while sitting on the tractor. The villagers took care of his food and other needs. After the completion of 7th day, the villagers honoured him thus encouraged him.

“2 years ago he has ploughed continuously for 50 hours. Now he has managed to make it to 168 hours. He intends to plough continuously for 700 hours” – Mallikarjuna, villager.

It is said that diesel worth ₹ 50 thousand has been burnt for this achievement.

“I started this on Friday and ended today (Thursday). In the beginning for two days I found difficulty as I did not have sleep. But afterwards my body accustomed to sleeplessness. I did this out of sheer passion” - Basavaraja Naykodi.

Today youths of our villages are migrating from village to city - attracted by the modernity. But youths like Basavaraja are trying in their own way, to gather attention and interest of the city’s towards villages.
