BBMP demolition team seizes actor Darshan's house

The Bengaluru Urban district authorities on Saturday seized Actor Darshan’s house located in Ideal Homes Layout, Rajarajeshwari Nagar.

Ideal Homes had encroached 7.5 acres of government land and had built a layout. The district governance had issued notices to 69 houses of the layout which included the house of Darshan. 

The BBMP had undertaken a demolition operation across the city and had demolished hundreds of encroached houses. But it had withheld some encroachments of some influential people such as Actor Darshan, SS Hospital of Shamanuru Shivashankarappa and others.

After a campaign by Suvarna News, the district administration was forced to take up the issue on blatant discrimination. Shankar, Deputy Commissioner, then had served notice to all the influential encroachers. 

Darshan’s house had encroached 2 guntas of government land. 24 owners of encroached land, including Shamanuru Shivashankarappa had made an appeal in the High Court and requested to give 4 weeks time limit to clear the encroachment. Except the properties of those 24 owners all the remaining properties of about 44 properties have been seized.

Now the district governance has given 2 days time to the remaining owners to shift their belongings. It is going to send a proposal to the government, in the proposal it may suggest the government to legalise the properties by reselling them to the concerned owners or these buildings may be converted to government offices.
