Hyderabad TGIF’s licence cancelled for serving alcohol to minors

TGIF’s licence cancelled for serving alcohol to minors

Within hours after deceased Ramya’s grandfather succumbed to his injuries on Monday, the excise department in Hyderabad cancelled the license of TGI Friday’s bar and restaurant in Banjara hills for serving alcohol to the 20-year-old Shravil, who caused the fatal accident earlier this month.

According to a report in The Times of India, soon after the accident, the management of TGIF was served a show-cause notice under the AP Excise Act for serving alcohol to minors. "As the management did not give a satisfactory reply to the notice, we cancelled the licence of TGIF on Monday," deputy excise commissioner, Hyderabad, C Vivekananda Reddy told TOI.

On July 1, the underage Sharvil and his friends partied at TGIF after which Shravil, who doesn’t even have a license, chose to drive his friend’s car in an inebriated state. The car crashed into a median, flipped and fell on a Santro on the opposite side of the road. P Rajesh who was driving the Santro, died on the spot. Ramya and her grandfather died while being treated at the hospital.
