In a gruesome incident on Tuesday morning,  a ten-year-old boy was stabbed to death at Pulleppady near Kochi.

Christie John, a class fivestudent, was returning from a shop at around 6.30 am when he was brutally attacked by a middle-aged man. Though the boy was rushed to Government General Hospital in Ernakulam, his life could not be saved. He had sustained 17 stab injuries and died within minutes after the incident.

The police have taken a fourty-year-old Aji Devasya, a neighbour of the deceased, in connection with the murder. Police suspected that the man in custody is mentally unstable. Quoting locals, police said that Devasya used to take drugs and used to create problems in the locality after getting high.
