Temple priest arrested for raping and forcing minor to death

In yet another shocking rape case, a temple priest who allegedly subjected a 12-year-old girl from Karunagappilly in Kollam to unnatural sex was arrested, a week after the girl was found hanging in her house. The victim's mother is also in police custody over the suspicion that girl was subjected to sexual abuse with her connivance.

The postmortem report of the seventh standard student found that she had been subjected to unnatural sex. There were several injuries in her body.

The temple priest, identified as Renju is a neighbour and paramour of the girl's mother, according to police. The girl was found hanging in her house on 28 March. The victim's father is a soldier posted in Kashmir.  

The incident is shockingly similar to the rape and death of a 10-year-old girl from Kundara in Kollam. The girl from Kundara was also subjected to unnatural sex, allegedly by her grandfather. The mother and grandmother of the victim knew about it, but kept silent for over a year. Both the victims were found hanging from the window.
