A Telengana boy, named Vamsi Reddy, was shot dead in San Francisco in California on Saturday evening. Vamsi was driving back home from his part-time workplace and his car was suddenly stopped by a Caucasian man. The man took Vamsi’s wallet and shot him from close range and ran away.

However, in the recent development, India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj confirmed via her official Twitter handle that Vamsi was shot dead by a drug addict and the murderer has been arrested. This was the update given to her by the Indian Consulate in the US.

Swaraj also mourned the death of the young man from Warangal and passed her condolences to Vamsi’s family.

Vamsi recently completed his MS course in Computer Science from a renowned university in California and was looking for jobs. It was getting difficult for him to find one job after President Donald Trump imposed restrictions on hiring foreign internationals. Therefore Vamsi’s father ahd asked him to come back to his hometown.

"He spoke to me two days ago. He was very worried about his future as the new government in the US is imposing restrictions on the hiring of foreign nationals in the IT sector. I asked him not to worry about getting a job and asked him to come back to India. But he was gone within two days,” Vamsi’s father, Mamidala Mohan Reddy was quoted as saying by New Indian Express.
