Student brutally ragged at polytechnic college; suffers severe kidney failure

Student brutally ragged at polytechnic college suffers severe kidney failure

A student has been hospitalised in critical condition after he was ragged by senior students of Government Polytechnic College Nattika in Thrissur.

 


Avinash, a first year student of electrical engineering stream, was mercilessly assaulted in the name of ragging by a seven-member senior students early this month at their hostel.

 

 
The victim said the gang subjected them to severe physical torture and made them drink liquor. The traumatised student returned to his home in Irigalikuda the next day. The boy was then hospitalised after he complained severe dizziness during check up it was found that the assault had affected Avinash's kidneys.

 

 

Police have now registered a case against seven senior students following a complaint registered by another student who was also cruelly ragged.

 


All seven students have been suspended from college.

 


State Human Rights Commission have sought an explanation from Directorate of Technical Education, district police chief and college principal.
