Son butchers father with giant sickle in Bengaluru

A 55-year-old man, Gautamya was killed by his 25-year-old son, Kiran at his Austin Town home in Bengaluru last night.

Kiran has been taken into custody by the Viveknagar police. During interrogation, he claimed that he wasn’t even aware he had done it. “Someone has done black magic on me and I did this unconsciously,” he said.

The other members of the family had gone to attend a wedding on Sunday night. Gautamya and Kiran were the only ones at the house. At that time, Kiran attacked his father with a deadly weapon and hacked him to death. He spent two hours sitting by the bloodied body of his father until the police arrived. The police were alerted by the neighbours who heard Gautamya’s cries for help.

Gautamya’s wife has said that Kiran is unemployed. He had completed his BBM and was working in Bosch. For the last one year, though, Kiran was struggling to find a job. He would spend the whole day lounging around at home.

The police say that Kiran may have been lying about the black magic in order to avoid investigation. They also say that it could be clinical depression caused by his unemployment that prompted him to kill his father.

Gautamya was a real estate agent. He had diabetes and had therefore stopped working for a while. Neighbours say that father and son used to quarrel every day.

Gautamya’s corpse has been sent to Victoria Hospital for post mortem.
