Bengaluru police arrested seven D’Souza Nagar residents, who were working at a garments company at Peenya. The accused have been identified as Rakshith (18), Satish (27), Kempegowda (28), Prakash (46), Lokesh (25) and Chetan (25).

Bengaluru saw violent protests on September 12 over the Supreme Court order to continue to release Cauvery River water to Tamil Nadu. During those protests a mob set ablaze some 35 buses of the Salem-based KPN Travels, resulting in a massive fire and some ₹15 crore is losses.

Bengaluru police today arrested seven D’Souza Nagar residents, who were working at a garments company at Peenya on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The accused have been identified as Rakshith (18), Satish (27), Kempegowda (28), Prakash (46), Lokesh (25) and Chetan (25).

Rajarajeshwari Nagar police have arrested them based on video clippings of the riot. They have been booked under Indian Penal Code sections including:

• Section 143 - Unlawful assembly
• Section 147- Punishment for rioting 
• Section 148 - Rioting, armed with deadly weapon 
• Section 324 - Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means
• Section 427 - Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees
• Section 435 - Mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage to amount of one hundred or (in case of agricultural produce) ten rupees
