Setback for police in probe into assault on Mollywood actress

The investigation team probing the assault on popular Malayalam actress is waiting for the forensic analysis of the mobile phones and tablet seized from the hideouts of Pulsar Suni, the main accused after it faced a setback in the plea for conducting narco-analysis of the accused.  The Judicial First Class Magistrate rejected the plea by the police seeking permission to conduct narco-analysis on Saturday after the counsel of the accused informed that his client was unwilling for the test.

The investigators are yet to recover the crucial digital evidence, including the mobile phone and memory card that used to record the visuals of the assault. Pulsar Suni insists that the mobile phone was thrown into Vembanad Lake. But the investigation team is not willing to believe his statement and wanted to conduct the narco-analysis which it believes would give vital clues to recover the mobile phone.

The accused had recorded the visuals of the assault on the actress to use it for blackmailing her. Recovering the visuals and the device/s used to record it, play a crucial role in filing a fool-proof charge sheet in the case. Even though the police undertook an extensive search in the Vembanad Lake with the help of expert divers, the mobile phone could not be traced.

Now, the investigators are pinning hopes on the result of the forensic analysis of the devices seized from Pulsar Suni's hideouts. The police had seized a mobile phone and a tablet from a room in Coimbatore where Suni and his aides stayed after the attack on the actress. If the forensic experts were able to recover the visuals from the phone, it would aid the investigation in a big way.
