Pushpa Convent, situated at Piriyapattana in Mysuru, has become a centre of controversies after the deaths of two students in a year.
Mohit, son of Srinivas and Roopa, was a student of the convent, studying in the second standard. Mohit was rushed to a nearby hospital when he complained of severe pain in his stomach.
Sadly, despite the efforts of doctors, he was unresponsive to treatment and soon breathed his last.
The exact reason for his death is still not known. However, angry students and parents have alleged that the school was negligent, as they did not take action with sufficient speed.
However, the school administration has given a clarification that they had informed Mohit's parents of as soon as Mohit complained of stomach ache and the boy was given into the parents' care.
In the earlier incident in last June, the body of another student, Sanmith, was found in a well close to the school's compound. The boy was reportedly missing for two days before finding his body.
Various organisations and parents had staged a series of protests last year, demanding that the school be closed.
Co-incidentally, both Sanmith and Mohit were children of local BJP leaders.
Speaking to Suvarna News, Block Education Officer (BEO) Karigowda said that he has visited the school and spoken to the Principal. “CCTV footage has been checked, and we will soon submit a report in this regard,” he added.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), Shivaramu has said that necessary action will be taken after receiving the report from the BEO and the post-mortem.
