AIADMK’s former general secretary Sasikala Natarajan surrendered at the Special Court arranged in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru after she and two others were convicted in the Disproportionate Assets case.

Sasikala is now Prisoner No.9234, while sister-in-law Ilavarasi got No.9235 and Sudhakaran received No.9236. This presser from Bengaluru prison mentions that Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran under Section 109 IPC read with Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act — abetment of criminal misconduct of a public servant — have been subject to simple imprisonment for a period of four years each and pay a fine of Rs 10 crore each. In case of default, their jail term will be extended.

For the offence of criminal conspiracy leading to criminal misconduct of a public servant (Section 120 (B) IPC read with Section 13 (2)) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, all three were sentenced to simple imprisonment for six months and a fine of Rs 10,000 each as well.

Among other news from the Parappana Agrahara, Sasikala had earlier submitted a list seeking some comfort in the jail cell, which is to be her home for the next four years, unless the sentence is overruled by a larger bench of the Supreme Court. On her list was the requirement for an AC Room, home-cooked food (citing diabetes), TV, space for meditation, a cot, a fan, mineral water, Non-Veg food  twice a week and 24-Hour Medical Assistance. While most of her demands were refused, Sasikala has now managed to get from the jail authorities a fan, television and a chair in her cell.
