Sasikala Convicted: Here is what happened to MLAs in resort

 

Sasikala was still inside the resort when the verdict was passed.  However, within a minute of the verdict, the police who were not allowed to step inside the resort till then were seen marching inside to get the MLAs out. Currently, the MLAs have been sent out of the resort and Sasikala will be arrested by the police.

 

 The 119 MLAs ‘kept’ in the Golden Bay Resort in Koovathur by Sasikala were welcomed by the police as soon as the verdict on disproportionate assets case was passed and Sasikala was convicted in the case by the Supreme Court.

From inside the resort, the reports say that there are two possibilities, that either Sasikala’s husband or nephew Dinakaran will be asked to become the chief minister or she might offer the post to Jayalalithaa’s nephew Deepak.

 

 

However, meanwhile, Panneerselvam has continued to claim that MLAs have been kept inside the resort by force. With Sasikala’s arrest, the things might change swiftly, and Tamil Nadu politics may see a new leader rise up to the post or Panneerselvam get hold of the situation.

 

As the MLAs are out of the resort, they are expected to speak to the media first time after Wednesday, when they were herded into three buses without any prior notice and were taken to the resort.

Latest from the resort, Sasikala has just before her arrest has appointed Edappadi Palanisamy as the AIADMK chief. His first decision as the party chief was to sack acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam from the AIADMK membership.

 

Sasikala, still in the resort will be arrested soon, following the Supreme Court’s verdict pronouncing Sasikala as guilty has still not given up. She is using the MLAs and is making all efforts to run a parallel government from Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru, where she will be lodged shortly.
