The revenue officials, headed by Joint Commissioner East Yatish Kumar, raided JW Marriot, a five-star hotel, which was on the defaulter list for non-payment of tax to the tune of ₹5.59 crore.

Yatish Kumar clarified that the hotel management was designated as a tax defaulter. The revenue department had put up a notice on the hotel premises before raiding the place, he added.

"The hotel manager had come to pay a cheque of ₹1.95 crore. His plea was rejected, and I have seized the chairs, sofa sets and costly wooden tables. I have told the authorities to clear the entire amount," he said.

Earlier, the Intel company in Mahadevpura and Manyatha Tech Park in East zone were also raided, and notices were slapped on them for non-payment of property tax.
