For an engagement, guest delays flight with hoax bomb scare!

  • When a much-in-love couple was late for a flight to their engagement, a guest at the party had a strange idea.
  • Rather than postponing the engagement, the friend chose to call in a fake bomb threat in Bengaluru
  • It did not take long for the Bengaluru cops to discover the trick and arrest all three.
Relatives make bomb hoax call to delay flight to attend engagement

Cops at the Kempegowda International Airport have arrested three on February 8 for making a fake bomb call, all over an engagement!

The arrested, as per the cops, are Anjan, Sneha and Arjun. All the three hail from Kochi and were staying in Bengaluru. Here is the backstory: Anjan and Sneha were in love, and once their parents agreed for a wedding, they decided to get engaged in Kochi on Thursday, February 9.

Lack of leave forced the couple to fly down to Kerala, and they booked flights from Bengaluru to Kochi. They had booked Air Asia Flight 151129, that was scheduled to fly from Bengaluru to Kochi on February 8, at 8.45 p.m. But on the scheduled day, they could not reach the airport on time due to a massive traffic jam.

The couple called their relatives in Kochi and informed them about the traffic jam. They also told asked their parents to postpone the function, in case they don’t arrive in Kocchi at the scheduled time.

Post this, events took a turn into the strange and illegal. Arjun, a friend of Anjan, got the weird idea of calling in a fake bomb scare, in order to stop the flight.

He called the Bengaluru police and told them that a bomb had been placed on the Air Asia 151129, scheduled to fly at 8.45 pm. He seems to have assumed that mandatory search of the plane by the bomb squad would take a little time, which may help Arjun catch the flight.

However, things have changed nowadays.

After getting the call, rather than risking the lives of passengers by keeping them on the plane, the alert police in Bengaluru immediately arranged another flight for the passengers and sent them to Kochi.

Only once the plane was evacuated, did the cops start searching for the alleged bomb. Naturally, they did not find any explosives inside the flight. Clearly they had been deceived.

Police now decided to focus on the prank call. They traced the location of the call and compared it with the address list of the passengers. During the search, they discovered that the location of call was near the address of Anjan and Sneha. Thus they took both of them into their custody and also caught Arjun.

The trio are currently in police custody.
