‘Rationalist’ LDF Kerala government finds car number 13 'unlucky’?

‘Rationalist’ Communist Kerala government finds car number 13 'unlucky’?

For many, 13 might be an unlucky number but when Communists, who are perceived as rational, succumb to such superstitious beliefs, one can only comment that there exists a wide gap between preaching and practising.

According to a Times of India report, car number 13 has not been allotted to any Left Democratic Front (LDF) ministers, as the number is considered as “unlucky”.

Cars were allotted to the CM Pinarayi Vijayan and his ministers after they took the oath of office on Wednesday. While CM Vijayan got car number 1 allotted as his official vehicle, there are no takers for car number 13.

According to an Indian Express report, car number 13 should have been allotted to CPI minister P Thilothaman, instead was allotted car no 14.

Thilothaman, when quizzed, said he was not aware of car 13 missing, he retorted that it was not a deliberate move.

It may be noted that previous Kerala governments have avoided the use of car number 13.

It was only MA Baby, a minister in the Achuthanandan-led LDF Cabinet, who had used car number 13.

If reports are to be believed, there is no judge’s chamber no. 13 in the Kerala High Court.
