Rakesh's funeral: Inconsolable wife, children refrain from public appearances

Siddaramaiah believes in keeping his personal life away from rumours and the media spotlight. So, in keeping with his principles, his family members also kept the funeral of Rakesh a private affair.

Like Siddaramaiah’s wife, Rakesh’s wife and children too were not usually seen in public. And sticking to that, it would seem that they did not want the family's grief to be a public event.

To provide privacy to the family, the funeral was held inside the Katoor farm, where Rakesh’s mother, wife and children were reportedly inconsolable.

Rakesh’s wife Smitha hails from North India. Smitha had left for Belgium with her son Dhanush, daughter Tanmaya and mother-in-law Parvathamma as soon as they heard about Rakesh’s illness. Even the trip to Belgium was done with barely anyone noticing.
