Members of Bengaluru's Rajinikanth fan association have planned quite a novel birthday gift for their idol. They will be rebuilding a school in Gavipuram where the Thaliavaa is had studied as a child.

December 12 is Rajinikanth’s birthday and fans are hoping the school will be rebuilt by then, if not, they will surely open it in January and hope to present it as a Sankranthi gift to him.

Rajni studied at the Kannada Government School, Gavipuram from Class I till Class VII, between 1956 to 1963.The school was in a dilapidated condition and fans have taken up the rebuilding process themselves.

Rajni Murugan, President of Rajnikanth Fans Association Bengaluru, said that their idol’s film Sivaji not only impressed the fans but made them to do something for society.

"In 2007, Sivaji was released. The film’s theme was about bettering the education system and hence we thought of giving the school latest infrastructure. And so in 2009, we gave a representation to the Karnataka government and about ₹81.4 lakh was released to us in 2013. We have been monitoring the activity and soon the new school complex will be opened," he added. The school's infrastructure will be on par with any private school.
