Bengaluru auto drivers booked over racist comments

racist comments

Two separate cases were filed against autorickshaw drivers for their arrogance and racial comments against north Indian girls in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Two women boarded an auto from Kantheerava Stadium and the driver demanded double fare. When they asked the reason, he allegedly abused them with racist comments.

Following this, they filed a case at Cubbon Park Police Station. As the First Information Report (FIR) was registered, cops seized the autorickshaw and the driver was arrested.

In another incident at Koramangala, a case was filed against an autorickshaw driver for racially abusing two women.

The girls alleged that the driver demanded double fare and the girls declined his ride. They were booking a cab on their mobile, when they heard the driver abuse them in Kannada. As the girl could understand Kannada, she retaliated.

"This enraged the driver and he started shouting at me. He was about to take off his shoes and slap me but didn’t as his friend stopped him," she said.

She claimed that the driver was said, "Why do you north-eastern people come to Bengaluru, go back to Delhi."

She even said in her complaint that more that 50 people had gathered there but no one came to for help.
