The CID police arrested Shivakumara Swamy from an under-construction building at Garebalipalya, on Hosur Road.
The CID investigation found that Swamy ran a very secretive racket and was known only by his codename 'Tomato'. Most of his associates never met him in person. The police are also looking for his close aide Kiran.
The police said that before returning to Bengaluru, Swamy was hiding in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Also known as Shivakumaraiah and Guruji, Swamy hails from Kaggere village of Gubbi district in Karnataka. He was working as a lecturer in a college in Bengaluru but had taken VRS some ten years ago, allegedly choosing the option when his question paper racket took off strongly. Currently, he runs eight tutorial centres in the state.
Swamy is also accused of releasing question papers of SSLC, degree, TET, MBBS and Engineering courses. Apart from this case, he is the main accused in the 2012 Science question paper leak. A case against him was filed at Hosabadavane in Tumkur district in 2013.
