Paper leak scam: Suspect reveals government officer's role

Just a week after kingpin Shivakumaraiah alias Guruji (66) was arrested in the Karnataka second PU chemistry paper leak scam, another key accused - Kiran alias Kumaraswamy (28), was arrested yesterday from a farm house in Cehlur in Tumakuru District.According to police officials, Kiran is the nephew of Shivakumaraiah.

 

“Our sources had informed us that Kiran was hiding in Tumakuru and had tonsured his head and shaved his moustache to dodge the cops. However, he was identified and interrogated after which he confessed to the crime.” police officials said. 

 

The CID officials further revealed that he named another government official’s involvement in the scandal. “Kiran named Santhosh Parshuram Agasimani who is a second division assistant in a Sub Treasury of Hangal near Haveri District.

 

According to Kiran, it was Santhosh who had given the keys of the treasury to Kiran to  open the seal of the question paper which was photographed and circulated on WhatsApp.

 

CID produced Kiran before the session court which ordered him into 10 days police custody for further interrogation.
