Bengaluru's Palace Grounds may no longer be a wedding destination

Prohibit Marriages in Bangalore Palace Grounds

Bengaluru traffic police have requested the state government to impose a ban on hosting marriages at the Bengaluru Palace Grounds to ease the vehicular movement on the arterial Bellary Road.

The traffic policemen claim that it takes hours to clear up the traffic leading to Palace Grounds as the route happens to be an arterial road which leads to Kempegowda International Airport.

Add to that, the residences of members of legislative assembly (MLAs) and members of parliament (MPs) are located along the Jayamahal road and as per protocol these roads must have hassle-free access as they fall under high-security areas.

Palace Grounds has always been the go-to venue for marriage functions and other celebratory events and the steady stream of visitor vehicles chokes traffic leading to the grounds.

"To tackle these problems, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) has been requested to look into the matter and impose a ban on conducting marriages and gala events at Palace Grounds," said Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) R. Hithendra.
